Considering this table as an image with pixels, the vertical axis will be (r,2), but how should we consider the horizontal axis?

If it's impossible to determine the precise axis, can we conclude that the patch won't be divided anymore because the boundary line must be axis aligned?

A subplot is further divided only if there exist a vertical and an horizontal line with the same color, splitting both the plot width and height into smaller parts (with at least 1 pixel)

I don't understand your image, could you please colour it?

Initially, I thought that the lines must be aligned with the axes, so if traced they must necessarily touch or pass through the horizontal or vertical axis. But I understood that we could refer to any row or column of the image to compare. The axis has nothing to do with it. Thank you.
